Re-Reads for 2025
I’m not one of those people who don’t re-read a book they’ve already read. I get it and all, there are far more books than any one person can ever read in one life time so, by not re-reading, you increase the number of books you can read in one life time. But when I find a book I love, I mean really love or a book in which the characters become like friends, I’ll happily re-read their stories. I notice new things when I re-read the story. I find different understandings or meanings when I re-read a book. And to me, that’s worth a lot.
With that being said, I don’t re-read a ton of books. But I do re-read some. So far this year, I’ve re-read a few books books but I have plans to re-read even more and for different reasons. Here’s the liste (with shopping links included):
I’ve re-read some Chicken Soup for the Soul books and I’ll read some more this year. These books I’m reading with a goal in mind. While I keep accumulating more books, I’m also working on going through the books I already own and re-reading them to decide if they should stay or if they should go. I have quite a few of these becuase at one point, I was on a mission to own them all. I never achieved that goal. Honestly, most of these are going but I want to read them before I find them a new home.
What I’ve already read through:
Legendborne series- Since the third book came out and I was lucky enough to receive it as a gift for my anniversary (my husband is amazing!) I re-read the first two books (Legendborn and Bloodmarked) by Tracy Dionn before diving into the third in the series (Oathbound). And, honestly, I loved them at least just as much as I did my first read through!
Night by Elie Wiesel:This waa a little outside of my comfort zone. It’s about a boy who ends up in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany during World War II. I found it to be a hard read with a number of upsetting and disturbing moments but it was part of my daughter’s school curriculum so I read it so I was prepared to help her through the emotional ride. Shortly after that, I read the book with her and helped her through the material.
What I hope to read through:
To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han: I fell in love with the movies first, so, of course, I got the books and read through them! I wasn’t disappointed and now the movies have become part of my “sick movie” list. Recently, I watched through the movies again (and again, and again. What can I say? they comfort me!) and I was struck with a desire to read through the series again and…I think I will.
Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong: I’m hoping to re-read Immortal Longings as it’s the first in a series and I LOVED it the first time I read it. I was exasperated when it ended the way it did and I had to wait for the second in the series to come out. I now have a copy on audiobook which I’m excited to dive into but as it’s been over a year since I read the first book, I want to re-read that one before I dive into the second, Vilest Things.
And there it is, the books I have re-read and plan to re-read over the course of 2025. What books are on your re-read list for 2025?
